The 420-5GT-40 is a synchronous belt with the PowerGrip GT (Gates) profile and a 5 mm tooth pitch. The 420 mm length has 84 teeth, suiting a ball-screw drive with a slightly greater distance between the servomotor and screw pulleys than the shorter 400-5GT-40 variant offers.
This intermediate format appears on mid-format machines where the standard 400 mm length can't span the required shaft spacing and the 450 mm is already needlessly slack. The belt's construction is identical to the other 5GT-40 variants — a neoprene band with glass-fibre cords and teeth with a fabric facing against wear. The GT profile, with its wider, deeper tooth, ensures precise synchronous transmission without slip, which is key to axis positioning accuracy.
The 420-5GT-40 belt is found in the axis drives of mid-size CNC machining centres, where it links the servomotor and the ball screw. When replacing it, we recommend verifying the exact length by measuring your existing belt — even a small length deviation requires adjusting the tensioner assembly.
