The SUN-series boosting cylinder from Chen Sound is a pneumatic-hydraulic intensifier — a cylinder that uses ordinary compressed air as the input medium and converts it into a hydraulic output force an order of magnitude higher.
The principle works by air pushing on the large area of the primary piston, which moves a secondary piston with a much smaller area — this multiplies the force by the ratio of the piston areas. The output is a short but high-energy stroke, ideal for clamping workpieces, gripping fixtures or pressing operations.
The 3000 kg / 13 mm version means an output force of 3 000 kg (≈ 30 kN) at a stroke of 13 mm. The main advantage over pure hydraulics is the simplicity of installation — all you need is a compressed-air supply, no hydraulic pump or power unit.
The SUN boosting cylinder is used as a clamping element for CNC machines and milling fixtures, as well as for pressing operations and in automation lines. It is ideal where a compressed-air supply is available but a high gripping force is needed without having to install a separate hydraulic station. It is compatible with common clamping systems in CNC machining and can be deployed universally in shops running machines of various brands.
One and the same machine can use different cylinder versions across its generations. That's why, before ordering, we verify the machine, the year of manufacture and the clamping-taper type. What we'll need from you →
