01 · Description

What the servo drive does

The TDM 3.2-030-300-W1 servo drive from Indramat (today part of Bosch Rexroth) is a three-phase transistor digital drive intended for controlling servomotors in CNC machines, machining centres and multi-spindle lathes. The TDM design was a reliable choice for axis drives for decades on machines from the 1990s and early 2000s.

The module offers both analogue inputs (±10 V) and a digital communication interface, allowing integration into various higher-level control systems. The numerical designation 030/300 corresponds to a rated current of 30 A and a DC voltage of 300 V; the W1 suffix denotes a specific configuration variant — before ordering we recommend verifying the exact unit against the type nameplate.

This type is still actively supplied as a direct replacement for machines in operation, where a full electronics retrofit would be disproportionately expensive.

Where the servo drive is found

The TDM 3.2-030-300-W1 servo drive is found as an axis drive in CNC milling centres, lathes and machining centres fitted with original Indramat electronics. It is a frequently requested part as a direct 1:1 replacement for a faulty unit — it avoids the need to retrofit the entire control loop and saves tens of thousands of crowns compared with modernising the drive.
