The ball screw is one of the most expensive parts in a CNC machine — a new screw often costs tens to hundreds of thousands of crowns. Yet in the vast majority of cases the whole screw is not worn: the wear concentrates in the nut and the balls, while the screw itself stays in good condition. Refurbishment takes advantage of this — we replace the balls, preload the nut or adjust its geometry, dress out irregularities on the screw and return the screw to the machine fully functional.
The result: the machine regains its original positioning accuracy and backlash (often measurable in thousandths of a millimetre) for 20–40% of the price of a new screw.
We receive the screw and the nut together with information about the machine and a description of the problem. We measure the nut wear, the backlash and the screw geometry.
